She was interested in the gender issue and feminist movements from a very early stage of her life. When she graduated in 2009, in university, she created her Feminist Frequency site. She had a plan to start an internet-based series that examined the role of gender in games but was the target of a harassment campaign online. The incident did not deter her, rather it strengthened the determination of a feminist critic of media. Many awards have been presented to her as a way of acknowledging her contributions to the field she contributed to.
